Whitewater Rafting

rafting on the Ocoee in TennesseeEnjoy the thrill of whitewater rafting on the Ocoee River in Tennessee, site of the 1996 Olympics. The Ocoee River is the premier rafting river in Tennessee, ranked one of America's Top Ten Rivers.

Cool it naturally this summer with a splash in the face at Hell Hole. Surf a hole, or just enjoy the sun and waves with an Ocoee River adventure.

The Middle section of the Ocoee River is over 5 miles of continuous Class III and IV whitewater. It is considered to be one of the best natural stretches of whitewater in the country, ranked one of America's Top Ten Rivers. Why? Because it is family friendly, easy to access and the Ocoee River is dam-controlled so we have rafting water guaranteed every Thursday-Monday all summer long, Saturdays and Sundays in the Spring and Fall. It is full-on excitement from the time you jump in the boat, with your heart pounding, and drop Grumpy's Ledge all the way to the last breath-taking plunge into Hell's Hole.

Breaking News Flash: We now, through massive negotiations, have contracted with TVA for 34 days each season guaranteed for water releases on the Upper Ocoee: Saturdays in May and September and Saturdays and Sundays all summer long.

Our scientists at OAR have been busy in our Rafting Lab. We have melded our Middle and Upper river to create a Full River Trip.

Think about it! A full day of rafting! This six-hour trip will give you all you can handle. You get to experience two sections of some of the finest white water in the nation. We start on the Upper River and get warmed up with heavy hits at Mikey's and Edge of the World. Then come the big boys: The Olympic section which includes rapids like Humongous and Godzilla. Just when you think you're not going to make it out of the Gorge, we stop and refuel your body with a delicious brunch (sandwich, chips, fruit salad, drinks and dessert). Feeling better, we jump back on the Middle River for 5 more miles of continuous whitewater. By the time you get back to the outpost you'll be ready to collapse! Sounds like fun, doesn't it!?!?
